Alright, so you’ve found 6rounds, you’re registered, you’ve read through the FAQ, and are now checking out the blog. You’ve taken almost all the steps, now there’s only one left. Of course, it’s the most important one. You actually have to start your webcam adventure.

It may be a little nerve racking at first. You’ve probably instant messaged before, but that’s a kind of different. There’s space between you and the person you’re talking to. The person you are talking to can’t see you, so you have longer to respond, your attention can wander, and, if need be, you can fake your reaction. All these things are much more difficult, if not impossible, on 6rounds. It’s a face to face interaction, with everything you do being picked up by your webcam. So why do it? Well, for starters, it’s a more honest, personal conversation than text on a white screen can allow. And it’s fun!

In normal human history we cherish the relics of the past. First edition books are worth thousands of dollars, famous art can be worth millions, and tools from years passed are placed in museums. When it comes to cyber history, we have less respect for what came before. Once technology becomes obsolete we discard it and forget about it. Who still has there very first computer? Or floppy disks? You don’t because our computers and storage systems have gotten much better. I bet you haven’t thought about floppy disks in years until I mentioned them. You probably haven’t thought about what life was like before webcams came along, either.

Do you know what’s kind of sad about modern technology? How little we take advantage of it. I probably use 5% of the features on my cell phone. I make calls, I get calls. I haven’t taken any pictures with it, never surfed the web, and haven’t even opened the calculator application. That’s just a cheap little phone. God knows what I missing out on with my computer. I bet most of you right now have a webcam staring you in the face, and you’ve barely scratched the surface of what you can do with it.

Thank God for Yahoo! Answers. It really is the best place to ask any question you can dream of and some of the time you actually get your answer. It’s also a great place to learn the sad realities of this world – like the fact that there are not-so-smart people living among us.
