An Intro to Videobombing

Are you familiar with the fine art of photobombing? Photobombing, the practice of getting in someone else’s photograph and “ruining” it, is more difficult than it seems. You’ve got to time your entry into the frame carefully, and exit before the photographer realizes and can retake or delete the shot.

But what about videobombing?

Videobombing is infinitely more complicated because you’ve got to remain unnoticed in a shot for more than several seconds — and if the photographer or subject notices you’re in the shot, you’ve got to hold strong and not let yourself get cut out!

The Perils of Bringing Your Child to the Oscars

In this clip, a teenage boy pulls a series of silly faces in the background of Sandra Bullock’s red carpet interview.

The Power of a Pint of Beer

I like to imagine that this guy was unsuccessfully trying to chat up the girl next to him at the bar, when suddenly an…opportunity presented itself. What better way to show her his fun-loving and brazen nature than through a little videobombing? So he turns around, fully entering the reporter’s frame, and smiles at the camera. You can see the girl he’s with trying to pull him back, but this only eggs him on. He dives into the shot a couple more times, and then, gets bolder (0:45) and does several little dances.

What a Chicken

…or rather, if you’re going to videobomb, it’s best to do it in costume, for maximum absurdity.

Speaks for itself. Genius.

Bug-eyed

This guy gets extra points for pulling off a photobomb-style videobomb.

Daaaaa-aaad!

When I was a teenager, my mother would always try to embarrass me by singing on the street or by straight-up asking my friends if they spent as much time as I did in front the mirror. I feel the father in this video probably pulls similar stunts with his kid.

Newsroom Rowdies

I wasn’t sure whether this counted as a videobomb, since it’s hard to say whether these guys are fighting for real, or intentionally trying to ruin the shot. Funny nonetheless.

The Sandman

Watch for a dude’s swift…handling of the videobomber.

Who Put This…

The videobomber in this vid may not know who put it on his back, but we know he’s certainly got balls.

The Pros

Finally, I’ll leave you with a couple of videos featuring two renowned European videobombers, Gabrielle Paolini and Emplastro, from Italy and Portugal, respectively. These guys are semi-professionals.
