When I studied abroad in college, there was one girl who I’ll just refer to as Sad Sack Susie. We were in a gorgeous South American capital city, but Susie wasn’t seeing any of it. She missed her friends, she missed her mom, she missed being able to understand what was going on around her. And she missed her boyfriend. She was completely paralyzed by all the newness around her. The first few months, Susie would mope whenever we went on some excursion and she was always running off to check her email. By the end of the semester, she had broken up with the boyfriend and found herself a local fling, but she’d spent approximately USD$500 on tearful phone calls in the process. And she’d wasted most of her study abroad experience feeling homesick.

Robert Scoble, from the famous Scobleizer blog interviewed the founders of 6rounds (read more about them on the team page) on his last visit to Israel and uploaded the results to YouTube. Here is how he described us: 6rounds brings webcam chats together with games. It’s sort of like what would happen if Zynga and Chatroulette met and had a baby. Here the founders give me a demo and show me this interesting service.

Although we have an FAQ page, one which we try and update as often as possible, I still get about 10-20 of the same questions each day. That’s why I’ve decided to dedicate this week’s blog post to the 8 most frequent questions I get asked. If you have any questions that you’d like answered feel free to post them in the comments below or send them to me and I’ll be happy to answer them for you.

The first thing I like to do when I enter a round with someone is change the skin of the video experience. Skins are like your computer wallpapers and you can change them based on the mood you’re in, the person you’re talking to and the type of conversation you’re having.
For me, changing the skin sets the mood for the conversation I’m having; if I’m feeling social then I may want my conversation to take place in a bar like setting, if I’m in a chilled out mood then maybe the desert skin is more appropriate. Regardless of my mood however, when you’re talking via webcam it definitely spices up the conversation.
